Nikola Tesla fu
ingegnere, fisico ed inventore serbo naturalizzato statunitense; diede
importanti contributi allo studio dell'elettromagnetismo. In suo onore l’unità di misura del campo magnetico prende il nome tesla (T).
Sostenne l'idea di produrre corrente alternata, sfruttando il fenomeno dell'induzione elettromagnetica.
George Westinghouse, ingegnere ed inventore statunitense, realizzò le prime centrali in corrente alternata. Fondò l'omonima industria.
